Black Death 1348 - 50AD:- This plague spread by rat fleas, managed to kill between 75 to 200 million people in Europe; an estimated 30 - 60% of Europe's population died at the time. This however is only one mass pandemic that has broke out over the years since the first known outbreaks in 541AD 'Plague of Justinian'. Yersinia Pestis is the bacteria behind this plague which has killed hundreds of millions of people over the years!
There are three different versions of this plague caused by the bacteria Yersinia Pestis, depending on which part the body it infects determines what plague it is; these are the Bubonic Plague, the Pneumonic Plague and the Septicemic Plague.
The earliest known instances of biological warfare was in the 14th century, records show the mongol empire would catapult diseased corpses over walls into towns and villages to spread pestilence.
